Artist Bio
What do you call it when jazz-inspired chords meet Adele-inspired vocals in a musician who still can't decide what genre she likes best? Ursula Hegge. Ursula Hegge is a versatile musician from Toronto who started writing songs at just 12 years old. Her music ranges from soul and jazz to pop-rock and rap, though she loves a good simple piano ballad or guitar serenade. With songs based on her own life experiences, Ursula writes music with the only goal in mind being that others may find themselves in the song too. While Ursula's main instrument of choice is the piano, she also plays acoustic guitar and alto saxophone. Having performed solo and with professional groups since a young age, Hegge now performs both within her community and at city or country-wide events such as at the CNE Rising Star competition and her 3 times performing as a guest artist at the virtual Canada Music Expo.
Ursula also works with local producers as talent, such as in Lex Junior’s 2019 track “Driftin”, and recording her own music, such as at Noble Street Studios recording her most recent single “Do You Like This Song” with Micah Doern. She also writes, records, and mixes her own music, with older releases “15 Hours by Plane”, rap single “Understand”, and even her own Christmas song, “Red and White”. The musical contrast between her 2020 release “With You” and her 2021 release, "Do You Like This Song" showcases her versatility as an artist: Ursula Hegge isn’t a pop artist or a country artist or an RNB artist – she enjoys exploring the grey areas between genres, and moves from rap to acoustic to piano ballads (and everything in between) like she was born to do it.
